What the Video Ad Validator Analyzes

The AdMeIn Video Ad Validator tool performs a comprehensive analysis of the provided video ad media asset. It checks for various parameters to ensure the asset meets industry standards and is optimized for ad delivery.

Video Duration Test

Checks the total length of the video in seconds. Recommended durations:

  • Display ads: 15–30 seconds (max 30s)
  • Video ads: 3–60 seconds (max 60s) Longer videos may lead to higher abandonment rates or ad intervention.
Run this test on its own to verify video length compliance. Video Duration Checker

Video File Size Test

Analyzes the file size in a human-readable format. Recommended limits:

  • Display ads: 500 KB – 2 MB
  • VAST video ads: up to 10 MB Optimized file size ensures fast loading and good quality. There is no single IAB VAST file size standard; instead, multiple quality options are recommended.

Video Extension Test

Checks if the video file extension (e.g., .mp4, .webm, .ogg) is supported for ad delivery.

Video File Format Test

Verifies the video container format (e.g., MPEG-4, QuickTime) for compatibility across devices and platforms.

Video Resolution Test

Analyzes the pixel dimensions (width × height) to ensure the video meets platform requirements and delivers clear visuals.

Video Frame Rate (fps) Test

Checks the number of frames per second. Standard frame rates include 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, and 30 fps.

Video Bit Rate Test

Measures the video bitrate, which affects quality and streaming performance. Higher bitrates generally mean better quality.

Video Codec Test

Identifies the codec used (e.g., H.264, H.265). Modern codecs provide better quality at lower bitrates and are widely supported.

Moov Atom Location Test

Checks that the MOOV atom (metadata) is at the beginning of the file for optimal streaming and fast playback start.
Run this test on its own to verify MOOV atom location. Moov Atom Location Checker

Video Aspect Ratio Test

Analyzes the width-to-height ratio (e.g., 16:9, 4:3). Standard aspect ratios ensure compatibility and prevent display issues.
Run this test on its own to verify aspect ratio compliance. Video Aspect Ratio Checker

Video Color Space Test

Determines the color space (e.g., sRGB, Rec. 709, Rec. 2020). sRGB is standard for web ads; YUV is common for video content. The tool checks for industry-accepted color spaces for your ad format.
Run this test on its own to verify color space compliance. Video Color Space Checker

Video Scan Type Test

Checks if the video uses progressive or interlaced scan. Progressive scan is preferred for online ads due to smoother motion and better quality.

Each of these checks helps ensure your video ad is compatible, high-quality, and ready for delivery across all major platforms. For best results, review any flagged issues and adjust your video asset as needed before launching your campaign.
